Margan Restaurant is now in it’s thirteenth year and as the pioneers of agri-dining in the Hunter Valley we are committed more than ever to our ‘estate grown, estate made’ ethos.
We base our menus around what we harvest from our one acre kitchen garden and orchard to maintain a truly seasonal focus. In addition we have our own olive trees, free range chickens, honey and raise our own lambs. A selection of our estate grown produce is incorporated into this menu.
What we do not grow or produce here on the estate we source from our local area including Wagyu beef, pigs from Krinklewood biodynamic farm, mushrooms, olive oil and farm gate produce from Broke.
We are firm believers in respectful animal husbandry and all our poultry, fish and animals are raised humanely and sustainably. Our ‘nose to tail’ philosophy shows respect for the entire animal utilising prime cuts as well as secondary ones with our own charcuterie production including prosciutto, coppa and pancetta. We ‘dry age’ our beef on site to ensure maximum flavour.
As farmers we are committed to looking after the land and as such are certified with Green Table Australia as well as Sustainable Winegrowing Australia for our environmental sustainability initiatives (first and only Hunter Valley restaurant and winery). Integrity is important to us and our accreditation benchmarks us internationally for best practice to ISO14000.

Magical Margan Margan has become one of our family's treasured destinations to recharge, celebrate our milestones and indulge in the finest food, wine and service. We went over the long weekend as one of our first getaways since Covid restrictions. My husband and I had the 5 course degustation, he the vegetarian and I, the omnivore version. Both were equally heavenly. I had the matching wines and he enjoyed some great beers. Typically excellent and friendly service from all the team. Picked up a bottle of the 2018 Tempranillo Graciano Shiraz and the 2019 Huesgen & Margan Trabener Wurzgarten on the way out for our next back-at-home celebration!michellerQ2280CX
Family trip to the hunter for a tour and dinner Between the drinks and canapés, garden tour, wine tasting in their actual winery, picking grapes off the vines and the amazing dinner, it would be hard to pick the best part. The staff that took us on the tour were so knowledgeable and willing to answer all the questions our group had. The chef brought our food out to us which we thought was a nice touch and hearing about how they source local items, produce all of their own wine organically and meeting all the lovely staff created a very ‘homey’ feel. Stunning views and exceptional wine We have visited Margan a few times now and every time we have been blown away at how amazing this place is! So much so we decided that was where we would get married!
The views are breathtaking, the wine is top quality, the food is delicious and the staff are exceptional.
They have their own veggie garden which the chef uses to create such amazing dishes so it is definitely worth sticking around for a meal during your tasting!

We took the garden & winery tour, outstanding! The staff are well trained, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about their work. Quiet Friday Lunch Came for lunch with my partner last Friday after being recommended by a few family members
We were served by Maddie for most of the day and had immaculate service.. was very quiet but Maddie made us feel like VIPs.
The food was good aswell, the gnocchi & bread being the highlight!!
